Good Morning

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

 

6/26/26 5:00 Cold, calm with sprinkles and intermittent drizzle.

They had a bear raid this camp earlier in the week.  That’s okay. I have bear spray. In the truck. Parked at the other end of camp, down by the highway.

Up at 2 for a dash to the latrine and again at 430 with somewhat less urgency. My good home cooking is to blame, no doubt.

I kept the fire going in the lodge all night. It is inclement outside but nice and toasty inside.

I expect Samantha and family to visit today.

Right now, I’m sipping tea and warming my toes.
