There is a hydration port under the top grab handle with elastic bands on the shoulder straps to retain a hydration tube. I have added a Maxpedition Mini Pocket Organizer to each shoulder strap to carry my compass and a first aid kit. The shoulder straps are well padded and comfortable. There is a sternum strap and waist belt but they are not padded.

The main compartment has two zippered net pockets, two small elastic pockets for bottles and one large, flat elastic pocket for a laptop or hydration bladder. There is a port at the top for a hydration tube.

Mardingtop 25L Backpack M6347A Elastic side-pockets on each side are large enough to hold a 32 oz Nalgene Bottle nested in a Suguning 750mL bush pot. The sides have two compression straps each and some molle strips so it would be easy to attach more gear securely.

There are three pockets on the front of the pack. The bottom two have molle panels and the top pocket has an elastic strap and velcro patch. I added a velcro reflective strip to mine.
Also pictured, a Sierra Cup, some extra carabiners, and a 32 oz Nalgene Bottle which nests in a Suguning 750mL bush pot I keep in the side-pocket of the pack.

I keep a zippered Maxpedition pouch with tea, oatmeal, and snackage in the bottom front pocket The bottom pocket also holds a spoon and fork, a flask of whiskey and two tin shot-glasses.

Inside the middle front pocket I keep a Maxpeditions zippered pouch with T.P., hand sanitizer, and a Bic lighter, all wrapped in plastic. I keep some Deet secured by the elastic strap at the back of the pocket.

I used the space in the top pocket for two Maxpedition Micro Pocket organizers and a red, nylon pouch from Pock-Its. These pouches hold cordage and tinder; the red pouch has knives, a pressure gauge and a magnesium firestarter. I can easily remove the red pouch if I need to use this pack as a carry-on.
