New Year’s Eve

The Writer, Vernon Wade

Vernon Wade is a poet, author and freelancer. He has been published in The Gorge Literary Journal, Dualsport Rider Magazine, Hack’d Magazine, The Sidecarist, ROB Magazine and The Hood River News.

The world fills him with wonder.  When he looks at the sky he is lifted into flights of fancy, when he stares at the earth he is drawn beneath its surface. He is delighted to find the macrocosm and the microcosm equally mesmerizing.

12/31/25 4:30 34F (1C) Calm, hazy with the moon waxing gibbous, nearly full.

Dave and Kel took Mom to Marchesi Vinyards for an end of the year tasting so Amy and I invited ourselves along.

The temperature dropped with the sun but they have a firepit at each table so we were toasty warm. It was good to catch up with family since we were out of town over Christmas.

The wine was good, the company even better. We closed the place down. Afterwards Amy and I went home where we each sat dozing in our respective easy chairs, laptops in place, fingers pressed to the scroll buttons while we snored. At midnight we got up and went to bed.

Happy New Year.
